Being a teacher can be hard work. Often teachers spend their own money on supplies for their classrooms. Sometimes school budgets don’t allow certain items to be purchased or by the time a teacher would order an item by getting a purchase order or the school purchase card, having it shipped to the school’s central receiving office, and then finally getting it to their classroom, it is easier just to go buy it themselves.
Shopping Discounts for Teachers
Today I am rounding up stores that offer teacher discounts. This is a great list for teachers, but it is also a great list if you are a parent. If you plan to give your child’s teacher a gift card, consider one of these places where they can get more bang for their buck!
Crafts
Joann Fabrics and Michaels both give teachers 15% off. At Michaels, teachers just have to show their teacher ID card. At Joann Fabrics, teachers must sign up for an account and acquire a teacher discount card. I love both of these stores because they have fun decor and crafty things many teachers love.
Books
Barnes and Noble gives teachers 20% off. Teachers do have to acquire a teacher discount card, but the process is simple. The discount bumps up to 25% during Teacher Appreciation Week. Teachers can also get a discount card at Half-Price Books for 10% off all of their purchases. Though not a discount, it is good to know that teachers get points if you purchase items through your child’s Scholastic Book Order which they can use to purchase books or other reward items for their classroom.
Clothing
When I think teacher clothes, I often think of Ann Taylor Loft, and that might be because they give teachers a 15% discount! Along with the discount, Loft has some teacher appreciation perks they offer at different times throughout the year. J. Crew also offers 15% off purchases for teachers.
Technology
Different cell phone carriers often have a teacher discount. Check with your carrier to see if they do.
Other
23 and Me DNA service offers an educator discount. You can also get a teacher discount at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort. Check with different attractions wherever you travel. Some museums give teacher discounts, too!
I’ve learned my local nail salon also offers a 15% discount on all services. Don’t be afraid to flaunt your teacher ID and ask if places give a discount. You might be surprised!
I’ve also been able to use my educator discount when purchasing glasses at Vision4Less.
I didn’t know that! Great to know the next time I need glasses!
