“Out of the mouths of babes.”
“Kids say the darndest things.”
Over the years, I’ve heard my kids utter some whoppers, and I think, I should write that down. Well, thanks to the super amazing app called Offspring, I have started to do just that! Created by a local family, the Offspring application makes it simple to store, share, and then publish your children’s words, smiles, video, artwork, milestones, etc., as they happen and then revisit them in days and years to come. I’m officially over six months deep into using the app, and I’m so thankful I have these memories to reflect upon.
Aiden was looking at some coins in his math book and asked if one of the pennies was a nickel. I said, “No, it’s not a nickle. It’s the coin with Abraham Lincoln (a penny). Aiden said, “You never know with those guys and their beards. It’s all so confusing.”
Last night Ethan woke up crying with a fever and head cold and said, “I’m worried the reason that I’m sick is because I’m allergic to my blankies.”
After throwing up, Aiden confesses, “The sad thing is, I was so tired that after I threw up, I just laid in it for a little bit.”
All kids are sick. They ask if we’re doing school tomorrow. Caleb declares, “I think if Aiden’s burps stink we shouldn’t do school. Stinky burps definitely will make it hard to do math.”
After Josh and I returned from a marriage retreat: Aiden says, “About three months before I propose (to my wife), I’m going to lock myself in a room with biscuits and water and read a book this thick (holds hands apart to indicate about two feet) about marriage so I don’t EVER have to go to one of those marriage retreats.”
As I exit Target with Aiden, we see an old lady using a walker. Aiden says, “When I get to the point that I need to use a walker, I’m just going to learn to ride a pig.”
The sad thing is, I’d let years go by without documenting these gems. The kids and I have read and re-read these quotes over the past several months and end up belly laughing every single time.
The Offspring app also does many other super amazing things. You can capture photos and videos, document artwork, add journal entries, and keep track of milestones. All of these features can be assigned to each child, which makes keeping who said what and who did what super straightforward.
Offspring also gives you the opportunity to create photo books and picture prints from Walgreens. You can choose to create a photo book with all the quotes, artwork, moments, and milestones from one or multiple children. I have yet to do this, but it seems like an amazing option.
So, I encourage you mommies to start keeping track of these moments. They are fleeting and oh so funny!
Please try this out and connect with Offspring via Facebook. Offspring is the best way to CAPTURE, SHARE, and PUBLISH your kid’s special moments. They are constantly working to improve things for all of us; in fact, they are in the process of finishing up a free update to the app which will include enhancements to their notifications.
Super cool that this ingenuity is from Des Moines, don’t you think?
