YMCA of Greater Des Moines
YMCA Summer Day Camps give children the opportunity to enjoy their Best Summer Ever. Their camps are accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA) and focus on three of the critical dimensions of children’s well-being: achievement, belonging, and developing relationships. Full-day camps for kids who have completed grades K-6 are offered at 7 locations throughout the metro area; half-day preschool camps, enrichment programs and sports clinics are also available.
The Science Center of Iowa
From chemistry to rocketry and from invention to dissection – there’s always more to explore with SCI Summer Camps! Using project-based curriculum on a variety of subjects, SCI Summer Camps will spark your camper’s interest in science and provide hands-on experiences using all the resources SCI has to offer. Week-long camps for students in grades Pre-K through 8th grade are taught by educators or future educators with experience in science, education, and other related fields.
Camps are offered June 10 through August 16, 2019.
Heartland Youth Choir
Learn new music, make new friends, and have loads of fun doing both at Heartland Youth Choir’s week-long summer choir camps. SummerSongs is for singers with unchanged voices in grades 4 – 8 (as of spring 2019). In addition to improving their singing abilities, participants also learn folk dance and musical theater skills and enjoy afternoon field trips throughout the week. SummerTunes (mornings only) is for singers in grades K – 3, who learn new skills through full choir rehearsals and folk games. Singers in both camps come together for a concert at the end of the week for family and friends. Join us the week of July 7!
Living History Farms
Located on 500 acres of rolling prairie filled with bubbling streams and nature paths begging to be explored, Living History Farms’ outdoor day camp setting provides a fun and unique way for children entering kindergarten through 8th grade to experience day-to-day farm and town life as it was in the past.
WDMCS Community Education
Are you wondering how you’re going to keep your kids busy this summer? WDMCS Community Education has many fun, enriching, and affordable learning opportunities available! Whether your child needs a little extra help in reading, writing, or math, or simply wants a fun way to keep learning, WDMCS Community Education provides a wide variety of activities to choose from.
AR Workshop Ankeny
Join AR Workshop for creative and crafty Summer ARt Camps! Each morning session camp runs from Tuesday to Friday from 9:30 am to 12 pm. Their camps are designed for girls and boys, ages 8-14. Kids will create 4 DIY youth projects and a DIY camp t-shirt over the course of the camp. Participants can customize and choose their project paint colors. Kids are encouraged to bring a snack and drink to enjoy during breaks.

Des Moines Community Playhouse
Theatre arts education at the Playhouse provides students with the opportunity to explore, create, imagine, and express themselves, all within a safe, nurturing environment. They have a full schedule of camps, offering a wide variety of theatre experiences for all ages. There are many good reasons why the Des Moines Playhouse summer education program is one of the largest of any community theatre in the country: talented teachers, curious kids, and amazing activities unique to the Playhouse. Pole Position Raceway Des Moines
P2R Summer Karting Kamp runs 9:00 AM – noon, Tuesday-Thursday each week. Kampers take part in daily classroom instruction covering everything from basic safety to advanced driving skills. Included are a minimum of 4 races per day, lunch, snack, and drinks. Other fun activities include Karting Kamp Olympics using their arcade and other games, daily challenges and working with a mechanic to service one of the karts they will race in the championship of the final day of Karting Kamp.

Wagner Summer Theater
Wagner Summer Theater is a performing arts program for children of all ages in the Waukee/Clive area. Their goal is to build confidence and expose children to the arts as early as possible. They offer a diverse and unique curriculum in theater, music, film, and writing. If your child is looking to have a wild adventure this summer, check out Blank Park Zoo’s weekly themed camps available June – August. Camp Brainiac is a summer day camp that welcomes elementary school age kids 6-12. Planned entirely by Iowa licensed teachers, Brainiac campers spend their days immersed in creative activities and experiential learning. Campers have plenty of outdoor time too.
