stocking stuffer ideasFor me, stockings are just as fun, if not more fun than the actual gift giving. I love filling my kids’ stockings with small, fun things! Maybe it was my own experiencing growing up- my mom always filled our stockings with so many fun things. Here are some fun stocking stuffer ideas.

Favorite Stocking Stuffer Ideas for Kids

Slumberkins – Have you guys heard of these? They were created by two women whose backgrounds are in family therapy and early childhood education. These sweet little cuddly animals promote emotional well being. The therapist in me LOVES this gift idea and I think it could work for a wide range of ages, too. If you take a look at their site, they have different ones for different challenges- grief/loss to family changes.

Art supplies/play doh – I take this time of year as an opportunity to restock our art supply collection. Markers, colored pencils, stickers, paint, etc make great stocking stuffers. And of course- the classic play doh. For my kid, I’m putting in glue to make slime. (a mom’s worst nightmare but hey- the kids love it and it keeps them busy!)

Underwear/Socks – My kids may begin to groan with this one, as I did when I was a kid, but I always toss a pack of underwear and socks in my kid’s stockings. It’s a great way to add in a “necessity.”

Water bottles – My girls have these and take them almost every day to school. They’ve held up so well and we’ve gotten our money’s worth out of them. I also bought these cups for our youngest (1 year) for his stocking.

Toothbrush – Yes, a toothbrush. My kids always get new toothbrushes in their stockings. They technically need a new one now and I’m going to make them wait until Christmas, haha.

Books – I try to always add a book or two in the stocking.

Bannor Toys – If you have a little one in your life- these wood toys are a must! I love that they are made out of quality wood and they are local to Iowa. They have a ton of options that would be a perfect stocking stuffer for a baby.

Hair clips or bows – For the girls- we LOVE these clips from Ryan and Wren! I love adding some to the girls’ stockings. You also could add bows, too! For the boys- I love these slouchy beanies!

Magic beads – I put these water beads in one of my kid’s stockings a few years ago and we still have some left! A little goes a long way and entertain my kids for hours!

Bath bombs – These fun addition to bath time would be a great stocking stuffer! Some of our favorites are from Tubby Todd and Lush!

Gift cards – You could also slip in a few small gift cards- some of our favorites include Target and Barnes and Noble. But the possibilities are endless with this one. A favorite place to eat or shop are always great ideas!
