It’s February and it feels like winter will never end and you will be wearing sweaters forever. Now is a great time to score some deals on winter wardrobe staples and refresh your closet before spring.
Every season it is fun to add a couple things to your closet to change it up! Right now fashion is a mix of classic pieces and some trendy items. I like to have a mix of classics and trends in my closet so I don’t have to overhaul the whole thing every year but I can still feel in style.
Here are five things to add to your winter wardrobe to feel put together and on trend.
The best part? Many of them will stand the test of time.
Buffalo Plaid
I am a bit addicted to all things buffalo plaid! Really, though, it is a classic print. You can style it in so many ways to feel put together! Wear it with some basic jeans for a casual look. Add a lace extender and a statement necklace for a dressier look. You can even wear it with a black pencil skirt if you want to really make it fancy. This top is one you can wear for years to come.
Lace Up Sweater
Clothing with lace up details is totally a trend right now, and adding one piece to your wardrobe this winter with the lace up detailing is perfect. There are so many options for this look from lace up sleeves, lace up fronts, and backs, and lace up detailing on the bodice. Find the placement of the lace up detailing that you’re comfortable with to pull off this trend matching up with your own style.
Colored Skinny Jeans
I saw a blogger a couple years ago say something to the effect that colored jeans are on their way out, but I totally disagree! You can wear them with dressy or casual outfits and they add a pop of color if you’re a person who owns a lot of black or gray. I own jeans in many colors, and burgundy is one of my most worn pairs. I also just purchased a new gray pair that I can’t wait to wear with colored tops, too! I don’t love wearing dresses in the winter, so when I do have to dress up, I will often try to wear colored jeans.
Duck Boots
Duck boots are my most recent purchase, and I don’t know why I waited so long to buy a pair! They are awesome for going out and about in the snow, slush, and cold. I love that you can get them in so many different colors currently because they are in right now.
Duck boots have been around for years! You don’t have to worry about them being too tight on your calves like some other taller boots, they are easy to clean up, they keep the water out, and you can pair them with cute boot socks!
Floral Top
Okay, don’t think I’m crazy because I am fully aware this photo is not a very winter wearable outfit, but it’s been so cold out I wasn’t able to get out and capture an updated photo. We all want to wish it was warmer, so adding a pretty long sleeved floral top to your wardrobe can make you feel like spring when it’s still cold. Also the top will transition perfectly once spring does show its pretty face around Iowa!
What pieces are you adding to your wardrobe this winter?
I especially love that darling navy coat and navy polka dot top. That floral top and that skinny skirt, is too cute too!
Thanks, Erin!!
All I want to do is be your best friend… neighbor even … so I can borrow a piece here or there.
Girl, that would be a blast!
