Thyroid Health, Testing, and Functional Medicine

Thyroid health is a very hot topic. In my experience, today’s health-conscious women are more educated and seeking ways to support their thyroid health from a natural perspective.

In Functional and Nutritional Medicine, it is known that that the thyroid is not just an independent organ that, for some reason, doesn’t work well after the age of 35. When the thyroid isn’t working well, is it really the thyroid at fault, or could there be other contributing factors? This is what functional medicine seeks to uncover.

Medically, thyroid dysfunction is attributed to a disease state and is typically treated with medications (which may be needed in some cases).

But what caused the thyroid to not work well in the first place?

What I find is that the thyroid is linked to so many other areas that need attention.

Think about it. You may have thyroid symptoms (fatigue, weight gain, dry skin, decreased libido), but do you actually have a thyroid “problem”?

Please view this video I just made where I talk about a woman who recently came in to my office with hypothyroidism and how we improved her health WITHOUT medications.

Want to skip ahead? Here is a brief outline of items I discuss in the video.

1:25 – Learn common triggers that cause the thyroid not to work well (these are very commonly missed).

6:20 – A common question I hear in my office when someone has been diagnosed with a low thyroid is, “How can I address it naturally?” Hear my response and what I explain to them.

7:10 – I share with you a real-life example of a young woman who recently came in to my office. I show you how there can be more to low thyroid then we think!

10:34 – How does pregnancy affect the thyroid?

14:20 – How the adrenal glands work with the thyroid to be effective.

15:25 – This example shows us some interesting changes for this woman!
