Just because it’s hot doesn’t mean you can’t be fashionable. For me, the key to summer style is the little details of taking a typical summer piece and bumping it up a notch with color, pattern, or texture!
Here a few outfits and summer style ideas for how to look fashionable and stay cool!
Embroidery is totally in this summer. You can find adorable tank tops with embroidery that make them look more fun than a typical tank and usually have enough detail that you don’t have to wear a necklace to look put-together. Pair an embroidered top with your favorite pair of jean shorts and your go-to mom bag and you’re set! I’m loving bags this summer with tassel details.
Patterned shorts are another way to take your outfit up a notch. I have heard some moms say, “I can’t do patterned shorts, they’re too wild!” But, believe me, you can!
Pair your patterned shorts with a solid tank and add a colorful necklace to tie it together. If you are already a patterned shorts lover, take it to the next step and try some pattern mixing. Read this post from my blog about three degrees of pattern mixing if you aren’t sure where to start.
Another fun way to make an outfit pop if you’re nervous about pattered shorts is to wear shorts that are a bright color. You can pair them with just about any top: black and white, plain white, navy, stripes, or patterns, and be ready for a summer day. Add a basic tassel necklace for a little interest!
And last, you can always win with a swing dress! I prefer dresses with thicker straps where I can wear a normal bra, so this dress is a winner for me. The length is great, and it can be dressed up for a night out or dressed down with a pair of sneakers for running around with the kids. A tassel necklace makes an appearance again in this outfit because it makes a little statement without being too fancy. Add a fun hat and your second-day hair is covered!
Love these simple, fun tips! I’m LOVE with embroidery this season- I want it all!! =)
