We Love Price Chopper: A Guide to Des Moines Grocery Shopping

Price Chopper grocery shopping des moinesWhen we moved to Johnston two years ago, Price Chopper was the closest grocery store to our new house. It is so close that it has become a regular stop on my way home from work most days. The store is easy to get in and get out of quickly. The Price Chopper in Johnston doesn’t seem to be overly crowded, and they always have enough cashiers. While it is a smaller store, it does typically have everything I need.

Price Chopper is locally owned and operated within the Greater Kansas City and Des Moines Metro Areas.

My Go-To Items

Because it is so convenient for me to shop there, I frequently stop in for the things my family uses the most: milk, string cheese, dog food, hummus, bananas, diet soda, eggs. They also have a health food section. Although it’s not as large as some other stores, you can find the standard health market items, like gluten-free items, natural soups, crackers, bread, and cereals.

Price Chopper Mom Hacks

Price Chopper has a decent hot food station where you can grab a rotisserie chicken, ribs, macaroni and cheese, and other hot sides. I think their fried chicken is probably the best in the area! This is a nice option for those nights where you really don’t feel like cooking. You can pick up a hot, convenient dinner for the family.Price Chopper Johnston

Why Choose Price Chopper

As I mentioned it is convenient because it is close to home. But in addition to that, you can find almost everything you need in the small space. This includes a pharmacy, a liquor store, a customer service station where you can drop off dry cleaning and mail packages.

Price Chopper also has a “Rewards Card” program. When you sign up to use your rewards on food, you’ll earn points every time you shop! For each $1 you spend on qualifying purchases you earn 2 rewards points. You can see your points accumulate after every trip – whether it’s your weekly stock-up or any small purchase in between.

Price Chopper also partners with area food banks to fight against hunger. They believe feeding their neighbors is at the heart and soul of what they do and frequently have initiatives that help friends, families, and neighbors have regular access to healthy foods.
