Meet Sarah Jorgenson

Jorgenson familyHello! I am so excited to be joining a team of some of the most amazing bloggers and moms around!

I have been a mama for 9 years, but never really realized the importance of having a network of moms until June of 2016 when I was given a prenatal Down Syndrome diagnosis. I was instantly welcomed into the Down Syndrome community, and it made me realize moms of every walk of life need a group of people to learn from, bounce ideas off, and support them in the everyday struggles and celebrations of life!

I was born in Nebraska and spent most of my childhood growing up in Casper, WY. After graduating college with a Voice Performance degree, I moved to NYC to become a live-in nanny and musical theatre performer. Living and performing in the city was an amazing and life-changing experience. I learned to become an independent and strong woman. However, after working as a performer I realized I desired to have the life of a typical midwestern mom. I moved to Des Moines and shortly after met the love of my life.

My husband proposed to me using my great-grandmother’s heirloom wedding ring while flying in a hot air balloon over the bridges of Madison County. This summer we celebrated our tenth anniversary with our 4 amazing kiddos and our moms in Disney World!

In order to stay at home during the day, I left my position at Drake and now work a few part-time jobs from home. The kids love watching me work whether I’m teaching English online, calling financial advisors, or attempting to play the piano.

As a family, we love vacationing, going to movies, swimming, and just hopping in the car and driving. We are huge fans of anything Harry Potter and Disney. We create operas by singing our daily conversations, and we enjoy family dance parties in our living room.

If given a day off, I would be found sitting in a quiet coffee shop drinking mochas while shopping on Amazon using my purple laptop.

Sarah
Sarah stopped through Des Moines while moving from NYC en route to Chicago. She quickly met the love of her life and, after a marriage proposal in a hot air balloon over the bridges of Madison County, ended up planting roots in Iowa! Now a mama to four amazing kiddos ages 9, 8, 6 and 1, she spends most of her time running to doctor appointments, choir rehearsals and swimming lessons. When not on official mom duty, Sarah can be found teaching English online, directing a youth show choir or teaching private music lessons. She strives to always make a difference while keeping a smile on her face and a mocha in her hand.
