Hello mamas of Des Moines! My name is Liz and I’m a mother to Crew, age 2.5. I’m excited to be joining this tribe of authentic and inspiring mothers who are giving of their time to bring together parents in our community. Big thank-you hugs for having me!
I grew up in Cedar Rapids and graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in Journalism and a certificate in Entrepreneurship. Shortly after graduation, my husband, Page, and I were married (and just celebrated ten years this fall – time flies when you’re having fun!).
I work in a marketing and communications department for an ag commodities company, where I went part-time after having our son in January of 2015. Throughout our marriage, Page and I both have been passionate about launching small businesses. In addition to my “day job” I also own ClickSmith Photography and have been photographing amazing client families for the past five years…and one favorite client in particular.
Aside from photography, I enjoy decorating, hunting down the pieces to the perfect little boy outfit, adventuring around Des Moines with my curly-haired sidekick, attempting to cook a meal now and then (although I’m much better at and would rather be planning the tablescape), and trying unsuccessfully to stick to any semblance of a workout routine. I run on a cycle of coffee and red wine…#butdontweall.
My husband and I both love a good DIY project (and by that I mean, I troll Pinterest and he brings the actual handy skills). Together, we’ve built two homes, the second of which we moved into with a 4-week-old (spoiler alert: I do not recommend this). You can follow our adventures in house, kiddo, and someone’s obsession with garbage trucks over at www.lifeinyellow.com.
As I’ve come to consider myself a true Des Moines resident (and come out of the fog of that sleep-deprived first year of parenthood), my desire to do more in our community has been a growing one. I’m so grateful for this opportunity to network with other parents in the area, learn even more about what our city has to offer, and grow as a mother. Thank you for the warm welcome and please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at [email protected]!
