IKEA LOVE

IKEA LOVE | Des Moines Moms Blog

Last week I took a day trip with my parents and two of my sisters to IKEA in Kansas City! It was super fun to have a mid-week getaway, and we definitely didn’t leave empty handed! I thought it would be fun to share some of my IKEA favorite finds and just some of my favorite items there! I love mixing IKEA items into my home because they offer SO MANY affordable items that make my home feel fresh and updated — even while it is in the remodel process! 🙂

FURNITURE LOVE:

Why do I love IKEA furniture? I can’t speak to all of it, but I do own the EKTORP sofas and chair, and I am a huge fan! My kiddos are still small, and I love that I can take the covers off and wash them if I need to! AND for the price, I won’t be sad if we have to replace them in five years! They are also super comfortable which is a must for a family room! I have clients in my home frequently, and a few have asked if they are from Pottery Barn… so, I think it’s safe to say that they look high quality, too! (Some of my throw pillows and throw blankets can be found there, too!)

PLANT LOVE:

I love the little potted plants you see all over their show room! I picked a few a couple visits ago to add some green to my kitchen. I think they are the cutest little plants — they just make me happy! IKEA offers lots of different pot options, too!

RUG LOVE:

I do not own an IKEA rug, but I did find myself snapping pictures of these two while I was there. I have a future master bedroom remodel in mind! 😉 I think one of these black and white rugs might have to be my inspiration! Love the look and LOVE the price even more!

DISH LOVE:

I picked up a couple sets of IKEA white dishes a couple times ago and am so happy I did! We were in need of a new dish set, and we had just completed some open shelving to display them on! The dishes are GREAT — microwave and dishwasher safe and a clean and simple design… AND the price! 😉

STORAGE LOVE:

IKEA kills it in the storage department! I love to go in there and dream up a giant walk-in closet that is beautifully designed using IKEA… LOL! I do, however, own one of their locker and storage systems that you design yourself, and I LOOOOOOOVE it! Sure, it would be fun to have a custom built piece, but AGAIN, for the price it just doesn’t get better than IKEA! We tore out our front coat closet, so this storage system has been a great addition for us!

TEXTILE LOVE:

I have a strong love for this area of IKEA, too! They have so many fun options! I own several curtain panels, dish cloths, throws and throw pillows, all of which I love! I love that I can mix in IKEA pieces and still have a high quality look to my home for an affordable price!

KITCHEN LOVE:

IKEA kitchens rock. A couple of my good gal pals have IKEA kitchens, and they are beautiful! My sister is in the process of remodeling her kitchen using IKEA cabinets, and I can’t wait to see the end result!

These are just a few of my IKEA faves. Really the options are endless when you are there, and there aren’t too many things in there that I don’t like! It’s just a really fun place to get inspired about your home and NOT have to worry about breaking the bank to do so! It also makes a great excuse to get away for a day or weekend with girlfriends! 🙂

What IKEA products do you love?!

  1. I love ikea. I love their cube shelving I can’t remember the name as they renamed it this past year. I also love the picture frames and throw blankets. They are perfect for tossing on the back of the couch.

  2. did your friends install the ikea kitchen themselves?
or did they hire someone locally to install the kitchen?
I ask because the store said we have to hire someone and we can’t find anyone who knows how to install them.
