We are looking to expand our DMMB executive team!

Do you enjoy supporting other moms and building community? Are you passionate about Des Moines and the moms who live here? The Des Moines Moms Blog team is growing, and we are looking for local moms to join our growing team as a Social Media Coordinator or Sale Coordinator! These are flexible, part-time, paid positions.

Open Positions

Social Media Coordinator


  • Schedule and write Facebook posts, sharing high-quality organic content as well as business and sponsored posts. Typically 3-4 posts/day; 7 days a week
  • Create interactive polls and post questions via Facebook to engage readers several times a weekly
  • Assist with Facebook giveaways, helping to schedule, write giveaway verbiage, manage comments, links, liking comments, and choosing winners
  • Promote Des Moines Moms Blog events via Facebook and Instagram
  • Respond in a timely fashion to Facebook messages or forward to the appropriate contact person
  • Interact with local businesses on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter as DMMB (at least once per week)
  • Interacts and responds to all fan engagement, per DMMB policy
  • Maintains social media calendar
  • Assists in creating original DMMB graphics specific for social media posts (holidays, quotes,
    announcements, etc.)
  • Schedule tweets for sponsors, including their events, sales, campaigns and sponsored posts
  • Schedule and write Instagram posts, tagging businesses, contributors and other sister sites as relevant. Typically 3-4 posts/day; 7 days a week
  • Schedule and manage contributors for “Takeover Tuesday” on Instagram
  • Proactively share content via tags on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook (i.e. ensuring brands are aware of relevant content).
  • Monitor social media comments. Redirect as needed. Forward business inquiries to Co-Owners
  • Schedule “archive” blog posts to Facebook; 3-4 per week  
  • Brainstorm new ideas for Des Moines Moms Blog’s presence on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook, particularly as it relates to ways to engage brands
  • Participate in and attend CMBN social media webinars
  • Respond to emails in a timely manner (within 48 hours) and represent Des Moines Moms Blog in a positive and professional manner at all times
  • Stay current on social media trends through research; adjust our campaigns accordingly
  • Post trending or relevant current events
  • Follow the 80/20 rule. 20% about DMMB, 80% sharing and highlighting other businesses, CMBN sister-sites
  • Participate in weekly Sister-Site Share on Facebook, sharing our content and scheduling Sister Site content to our page
  • Attend all DMMB events possible, assisting with posting on social media


  • Prior professional social media experience preferred
  • Impeccable attention to detail  
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely (written and verbal)
  • Ability to meet deadlines and follow through on commitments

Time Commitment: 5-8 hours/week

Sales Coordinator

The Sales Coordinator is a contract, commission-based position that will solicit and manage new businesses for sponsored guides, projects and partnership.


  • Solicits new advertising business from any local business that would attract moms in the Des Moines area.
  • Helps develop Sponsored Guide campaigns that meet the needs of Des Moines Moms Blog readers and bring in optimal profit (ie: strategic, timely, comprehensive)
  • Sets weekly goals to include businesses to reach out to, as well as number of contacts to make each week
  • Works with owners to develop a year round strategy for sponsored guides – both for new guides and renewal and growth of repeat sponsored guides (examples – Direct Sales, Summer Camp, Schools etc)
  • Coordinates all sponsored guides (ie: receives images and information from advertiser, coordinates with owner when invoicing is needed, plans out social media posts and coordinates with social media coordinator and/or owner)
  • Builds the sponsored guides in WordPress
  • Schedules and adds image ads to Adrotate
  • Creates featured images for sponsored guides
  • Actively work with the DMMB Executive Team; additionally, interact with City Moms Blog Network Site Support Staff on best practices
  • Other various projects on a case by case basis.
  • Respond to emails in a timely manner (24 hours when possible, but always within 48 hours).
  • Maintain consistent communication with owners about projects.
  • Represent Des Moines Moms Blog in a positive and professional manner at all times


  • Excellent writing and strong communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Passionate about Des Moines businesses and Des Moines area moms
  • 1+ years of experience in Sales and/or Marketing
  • Ability to meet deadlines and follow through on commitments.
  • Experience with WordPress, basic HTML coding and Visual Composer plug-in, but willing to train the right person
