Slow down, you move too fast
You got to make the morning last
Just kicking down the cobblestones
Looking for fun and feelin’ groovy
Ba da da da da da da, feelin’ groovy

Slow + Summer = UNHEARD OF… until now.
After surviving months of seemingly endless baseball games, our summer has come to a screeching halt. Guess what? There isn’t a single one of us complaining. Yes, we’re still “busy” with other activities, but not running nearly at the breakneck speed we’ve been maintaining over the past several months.
Now that the craziness of the early days of summer are over, we’re taking things slow around here. What does that look like? Well, let me explain.
When happening upon a few mulberry bushes on the outskirts of our subdivision, my youngest son asked to bake a mulberry pie. Normally, pie baking wouldn’t have even been an option. We’d become accustomed to slamming down dinner as we all scurried out the back door. Pies… ha! But because we’re now “looking for fun and feelin’ groovy,” pie baking made its way on to our itinerary.
Other things in which we’ve been able to indulge include…
All of these “activities” seem like we’re not un-busy, but in reality, all of these things kind of just happened. No schedule, no entry fee, no uniform, no practices, no kid schlepping, no fuss. As a matter of fact, the day my kids hosted the popcorn/lemonade stand, I watched cautiously out the window (a.k.a. read a book) for about four hours. For real.
When we slow down the pace, we get to enjoy the simple things of life. This mama has been yearning for some simple for quite some time.
How about you? What simple things keep you feelin’ groovy?
Life, I love you
All is groovy
Really neat young lady
Thanks 🙂
