Happy Galentine’s Day: Ideas to Celebrate the Gals in Your Life

0

Galentine's Day IdeasDepending on which Valentine’s Day legend you believe, the festivities and traditions could date back as early as the year 270.

But, more recently, (2010, to be exact) there has emerged a newer, fresher holiday. I’m talking, of course, about Galentine’s Day-a new holiday debuting on the show Parks and Rec. This new holiday showcases TV character Leslie Knope’s love for her girlfriends and for brunch.

After all, romantic love is great and everything, but what’s better than girlfriends celebrating girlfriends? I can’t think of anything.

Traditionally, Galentine’s Day is celebrated on February 13th with brunch. But since not all of our schedules allow for this, pick a date that works for your girls and celebrate it anyway you’d like!

Here are a few ideas to celebrate Galentine’s Day:

Dinner Out

Go to your tried-and-true favorite spot in town or venture out to that new place everyone is talking about. Here are my suggestions: Akebono, Cool Basil, or Eatery/A

Night Life

When was the last time you went out on the town with your besties? My picks: Tonic, Juniper Moon, or Wellman’s

Brunch:

Celebrate Leslie Knope’s way and brunch it if you can. The best in town? Americana, Le Jardín, or Centro.

Intimate Get Together:

Pick up some wine and appetizers, or make it a potluck and ask everyone to bring a dish to share. Either way, you can’t go wrong just chilling with your chicas. My favorite wines to share: Chateau St. Michelle Riesling, Meomi Pinot Noir, or Menage a Trois Red

Try Something Completely Different:

Here are a few ideas so out of your comfort zone, you can’t help making a memory or two…

Whatever you do, whether it’s with one of your besties or with a big group, be sure to take the time to let your gals know how much they mean to you. Because, really, could you imagine your life without them? I know I couldn’t!

Do you celebrate Galentine’s Day?

Jennifer is a single mom of two boys. She does her best to get to places on time, despite being a chronically late person and the fact that neither she or her boys are morning people. She recently went back into the classroom after staying home for nine years to raise her kids, and she credits her sanity and success at this endeavor to the fact that she has incredibly supportive parents, family, and friends. She also has a network of single moms that truly “get it” and who encourage her on a daily basis. When she’s not hanging out with her kiddos, Jennifer enjoys writing at a coffee shop, trying new restaurants, or catching up with friends.
