Maybe you’ve heard of a favorite things party or seen people post about it on social media, but you’re not quite sure what it is. I didn’t know what it was either until we hosted one with our contributor team. Who doesn’t love going to a party and bringing home fabulous gifts? I can’t wait to have another favorite things party. I think it will become an annual tradition.

Basically, a favorite things party is when you get together with your friends and you give each other your favorite things.

Sound fun? It is!

I highly recommend hosting a favorite things party in January or February. It’s great to have something fun to look forward to after the holidays. And what else are you going to do on a cold winter night? Hanging out with friends and exchanging gifts is way better than another Netflix binge.

Here’s how to host a favorite things party

Invite friends and ask them to bring 3 of one of their favorite things (so you are bringing 3 of the same gift). Set a price limit. Ours was $10.

Ask guests to bring their favorite snack. Then you don’t have to worry about getting food ready, and everyone loves snacks!

When guests arrive, have them write their name on 3 pieces of paper and put the pieces in a bowl.

When you are ready to exchange gifts, choose someone to go first. She will get the gifts she brought and select 3 names from the bowl. (If she picks her own name she can pick a different one.) These are the people she will give her gifts to. After the gifts are opened, she will explain why she chose her item.

Continue this until everyone has given their gifts.

Here are some of the favorite things that were shared at our party:

Rifle Paper Company notebooks
Mrs. Meyers Cleaning products in lavender and basil scents
Shea Moisture muscle relief mineral soak
Slipper socks
Makeup setting spray
Mini capri blue candle
Leather earrings
Wine cooling cups
Bottle opener with Exile beer
Root Pretty lip balm
Mascara
Wool felt ball garland

Honestly, I would have loved to come home with one of every item that was given!

Who doesn’t love hearing about a life-changing cleaning product, a new-to-you beauty item, or a favorite snack? If you don’t get to bring something home, you can always get the details and buy it for yourself!

Have you been to a favorite things party? What did you bring?
