Hi. I’m Summer. And, for two consecutive years now, I’ve failed Valentine’s Day at my daughter’s daycare. She was only eight months old the first time. I ran across some cheap Valentine cards a couple days before and brought in a Winnie the Pooh card for each baby. At the time, I thought that seemed a little nutty since all they would probably do was chew on them, but I wasn’t the only one. In fact, one of the moms brought handmade googly eye frog cards for each of the kids. They were adorable! Fail number one.
Last year I used a Groupon offer to take some Valentine’s Day pics at Target. Charlotte would NOT cooperate for the photographer, but there was a funny photo of her saying “no” while pointing at me. So, I worked it into a “You’re My #1” Valentine’s Day card.
I thought I was being so clever, and I thought it would be fun for all her classmates to have a picture of her. I was excited to take these into daycare. I thought I’d done okay, and then I saw what the other parents brought (fail number two).
I didn’t take pictures of them, but I did find similar gift ideas on Pinterest. If you’re worried about being the lame mom, borrow one of these for this year’s Valentine’s Day.
- Orange You Glad We’re Friends Fruit Cups
- I Wheelie Like You Car Gift
- You Blow Me Away Valentine Bubbles
And, I don’t have a picture, but one of my dear friends brought a whole gift bag full of mini coloring books, stickers, and crayons for each of the kids. A couple of the parents kept it simple with fruit snacks. Bottom line — I was the only one without a real “gift.” Don’t get me wrong. I’m not losing sleep over the judgement of toddlers. But, still… I like to do fun things. And, this year I’m upping my game.
I’m planning on making homemade heart shaped crayons for Lucan’s class party. Keyword “planning” I haven’t bought the heart mold and am not sure if I have enough crayons either. Yikes! Cute ideas!
Cuuuute idea!
I’m going the chocolate route for my 3 year olds first valentine’s day party this year. Hopefully I’m not put to shame by other crafty moms! I’ll have to remember these ideas for next year 🙂
Now that sounds delish!
I just noticed that the website “Grace and Good Eats” is down. If it’s still down and you are reading this, please try this different site with a Play-Doh printable: https://tickledpeachstudio.com/blogs/blog/15436157-free-printable-valentines-day-play-doh-tags.
