Connections

Life is all about connections.

There were a lot of connections made to bring me to this blog. It started as a little girl when I connected with my best friend. Ten years later, I met my husband. After high school, we got married and moved to Ames. I connected with some pretty awesome mom friends. We moved to Grimes. My mom friend connected me with Bekah Riker. Bekah connected with me and told me about Des Moines Moms Blog and how it all got started by someone named Stephanie Flies, whom I realize is related to my best friend. We’ve come full circle! Here I am! Blogging on our very own Des Moines Moms Blog!

As a stay at home mom, I am so lost without connections. A positive connection with my daughters before they board the school bus. A connection with my son, as he sees my face for the first time in the morning. A connection with a dear friend over a cup of coffee. A connection with my hubby at the end of a long day. A connection with my mother each day. Connections with the girls’ teachers, so I understand how their day went. These are all very important to how my day functions. Without these connections, I find it hard to be present. To embrace the world around me.

Our passion for this blog is that it becomes a connection for you, the reader. To find other moms in the area, to find help or tips, to relate to a writer, to build friendships, to find things to do in the city. We want to connect with you. We really hope that you will step out of your comfort zone and join us at some of these events! We all need connections. This blog is meant to be an outreach. To connect you to the world around you.

Welcome to Des Moines Moms Blog. We hope to see you soon.

What is your favorite way to connect with our great city?
