basking babies logo momIn Part 1 of “Basking Babies Supports Moms,” I shared why working with Angela Swieter with Basking Babies, LLC is a win-win for any new or seasoned mama. In Part 2, I shared my personal experience with Angela’s assistance in our one-on-one consultation. This post will focus on the benefit of Angela’s classes and details for the upcoming Annual Conference.

Basking Babies’ Skip Baby Puree Class

Basking Babies, LLC offers a huge variety of services for birth, breastfeeding, baby, and beyond. Angela and her team offer a variety of classes for parents as well as education for professionals.

One of the most popular classes offered is the Skip Baby Puree class: Marieta, a registered and licensed dietitian and IBCLC, teaches the process of baby-led weaning and when your baby is ready to start self-feeding. She discusses why your baby doesn’t need to start with pureed foods and what you can offer instead. Participants learn what nutrients are essential for their little ones and what foods will meet the baby’s growing needs.

A Local Mom’s Experience

Erica Douglas, a Norwalk mom of four, got the chance to experience the Skip Baby Puree class this month, so I asked her to share a little about her experience:

basking babies doug and sean“I found the baby-led weaning course informative and reassuring. I’m on my fourth baby now, and he is to the age where we are starting to introduce foods. We had a different experience with each of my other three.

With my first we started puréed foods at about eight months — we did veggies first and one new food a week. With the other two, my husband and I found that they were more interested in real foods because that’s what the rest of us were eating. At this class, I was reassured that it is okay to introduce real foods to my baby, and more so, to let him explore himself.

Marieta was very thorough and made sure to answer all the questions of all parents there. (You can imagine every parent has a different situation, and this part was very important!)

I was excited to go home and be more at ease with offering my baby new foods.”

Upcoming Annual Conference for Professionals

Every year Basking Babies hosts a fall conference for the healthcare, breastfeeding, and baby community. This year’s topics will be Lactation Support for the Preterm and Late Preterm Baby & Promoting Optimal Breastfeeding in the Latino Community.
