5 Fall Recipes You Need to Try

1

The cool air is upon us and the leaves are changing before our eyes. Of all the seasons of food, fall is by far my favorite. While summer is fresh and light, fall is a welcome back to hearty and warm, to carbs that hug you around the middle, and soup that soothes the chill of the crisp air.

Break out your crock pot and let these five fall recipes greet you with all the comfort of the season.

Gingered Whisk Corn Chowder

Corn, potatoes, bacon, chicken, in a creamy and flavorful soup. Sound good? Try this delicious corn chowder recipe by Des Moines Mom’s Blog’s very own Jenni, aka the Gingered Whisk

Panera Pumpkin Muffins

You know. The one with the powdered sugar on top. You will not regret making these Panera copycat muffins at home. And I bet your kids will love them, too!

Iowa Girl Eats Sweet Potato Chili

You can choose between two varieties of this hearty and healthy chili: quinoa or chorizo and poblano. They are sure to fill you up on a chilly day!

Lasagna

You might already have a tried-and-true lasagna recipe at your house. I use my mom’s–2 lbs of ground beef with a big jar of spaghetti sauce, about 9 lasagna noodles, and as much mozzarella cheese as your digestive system can handle. I sometimes add a little cottage cheese to spice things up. There are so many ways to switch it up–like this one with chicken, mushrooms and spinach. Lasagna leaves our meal lineup when the weather gets hot and comes back in full force every fall. You can’t beat this gooey delicious dish!

Apple Crisp

What is better than apple crisp after a big plate of lasagna or a steamy bowl of soup? Answer: nothing.
