Hooray!! Summer is here, and what better way to celebrate than an amazing morning filled with carousel rides, rocket slides, splash pad fun, picnics, and a chance to meet other moms?! Need I say more???
Join us for a super fun morning at The Heritage Carousel in Union Park Des Moines.
We are so excited and thankful to Heritage Carousel for making this a PRIVATE and affordable event just for Des Moines Moms Blog!!
Event Details:
When: Friday, June 20, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Cost: Enjoy unlimited rides and riders from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. for only $5.00 per family! (Normal fee is $.50 per 3-minute ride per child and $1.00 per adult during normal operating hours.)
Activities for All Ages:
In addition to the Heritage Carousel, you can also bring the kiddos out for a picnic, take a ride down the famous Rocket Slide, or cool off in the splash pad, all while connecting with other mommas and kiddos! We would LOVE to meet you!

Fun Facts about the Heritage Carousel:
- The Heritage Carousel is a non-profit entity that offers a destination which serves the community by providing families of diverse backgrounds opportunities to create lasting memories through wholesome, affordable fun.
- The Heritage Carousel has provided smiles to thousands of people since it first started going in circles in 1998. It is operated under the Des Moines Carousel Foundation, a non-profit organization, and provides about 45,000 rides during a typical season.
- Owned and overseen by a volunteer board and a part-time director and seasonal assistance, it was established to provide an affordable, wholesome, and nostalgic family-based activity. It is located in a working class section of Des Moines and hosts riders from all over the metro area and Central Iowa, as well as those who travel to see authentic carousels across the country.
- The Carousel is a turn-of-the-century replica carousel and hand carved from basswood, hand painted, and ridden to the sound of an old-fashioned band organ.
- The Carousel is frequently used for birthday parties; family, business, and non-profit gatherings; and church and school outings. It offers private rentals and many forms of group ride discounts.
