Summer Spectacular PlayDate!

Saturday, August 1, 2015

10:00 a.m. – Noon

Union Park, Des Moines, Iowa

$5 per child

<<Buy Tickets Here>>

If you haven’t experienced all that Union Park has to offer, our play date will be the perfect opportunity!

Heritage CarouselOur morning will start with unlimited rides on the Heritage Carousel of Des Moines! We are so excited and thankful to Heritage Carousel for making this an affordable event just for Des Moines Moms Blog!  Each person planning to ride the carousel needs a ticket.  If your kiddo can ride independently, then you’ll just need one ticket per child.  However, if your rider will need a bit of grown-up assistance, we ask that you purchase a ticket for yourself (or assisting friend/family member) as well.

(Normal fee carousel is $.50 per three-minute ride per child and $1.00 per adult during normal operating hours.)

Dunkin Donuts

After a few rides on the carousel, thrills on the rocket slide, and passes through the splash pad, everyone is bound to work up an appetite! Thanks to Dunkin’ Donuts of Des Moines, ticket holders will enjoy their signature Munchkins for our play date snack. Perfect and portable for a morning at Union Park! Be sure to follow Dunkin Donuts on Twitter!

Queen Bee Logo sealBetween rides and snacks, we hope you’ll stop over to experience the unique talent of Queen Bee Face Painting. Owner Erika’s mission is “to create a fun, unique, and positive experience through the joy of painting and pretend play….” Her creations are water soluble and sure to make your kiddos feel as special as we know they are!

Last but not least, we know it’s summer time and we want everyone to stay hydrated! That will be even easier thanks to our friends at Crystal Clear Water who are providing ticket holders with bottled water at our play date!

A few details to help your family’s morning at the park:

  • Parking is free at Union Park but it may be a short walk from where you park to the various features (carousel, splash pad, rocket slide). You may want to consider bringing a stroller or wagon for your littles.
  • Donuts and bottled water will be available around 11:00 a.m. There’s lots of fun to be had at the park so feel free to also pack a lunch.
  • There are some picnic tables and shelters but you may also want to bring some towels or blankets to sit on while you enjoy your snacks or packed picnic.

We hope that you enjoy all our play dates have to offer! If you have suggestions for future play dates, feel free to chat with us at an event or drop us a line at [email protected]!

As always, invite a friend (or cousin, or neighbor), and we’ll see you there!

  1. Do we pay for parents, too, or just tickets for kids? I’ve not attended one of these before and wasn’t sure. Thanks!
