furnace-checkupThe other day I received a text that it was time to schedule my bi-annual dentist visit. I didn’t even hesitate to call and set up an appointment.

Then, on my way to town, I noticed it was time to schedule an oil change for my car. Without even thinking, I called up the dealership and took care of that. So why would it come as such a shock to find out that I should be scheduling routine maintenance on our furnace?

  • You can identify a problem before it happens. While performing a routine service check, Brett, a technician from Wyckoff Heating & Cooling found that the flame sensor needed some cleaning. Had it failed it could have been dangerous to my family – leaking gas into the house and causing the furnace to stop working.
  • You ensure your system is running efficiently, which will save you money in the long run.

Having your furnace checked prior to the cold weather setting in will help catch major issues before it becomes too late, too cold, or too costly to address.

Scheduling a routine visit will ensure that you are not stuck with a non-working furnace in the middle of January on a Sunday evening.

During the visit, Brett explained what he was checking and talked through things he thought I needed to know. He checked to make sure the filter was clean and ensured it was in place properly. We also talked about the Whole Home Ventilation control on our system. We had it set to off, not understanding what it was for. He explained the importance of having it on to ensure clean air is filtering through the house.
