5 Girl Birthday Party Ideas

1

Girl Birthday Party IdeasLast week, we planned some pretty cool birthday party ideas for the boys of the house. Today, it’s time to bring out the glitz and glam, because we’re planning a party for that little princess.

In March, I will be able to throw my first PINK party when my daughter, Brooklynn, turns ONE! I decided to embrace the pink, because if my daughter is anything like me, she’ll soon trade in her dolls for dirt. Brooklynn’s nursery has an elephant theme, so my first thought was to continue that into her birthday. Her brother had a cow theme for his first birthday, so I thought it could work. But I also love Minnie Mouse. The pink Minnie. And the idea of big pink bows and polka dots… well let’s just say that Grandma already has the cake ordered!

Thanks to a few of my girlfriends with daughters of their own, I made a list of Girl Birthday Party ideas.

Minnie Mouse Party: There’s no business like birthday business!

Because she’s not quite into princesses yet.

Activities:

1. Minnie’s Bowtique: decorate big hair bows with sparkles, glitter, and pazazz.

2. Pin the bow on Minnie.

3. Nobbies has a Minnie piñata where girls pull a string rather than hit Minnie with a bat.

4. Find Figaro: Have a wall of polka-dots and hide a picture of Minnie’s cat behind one. The girls can pull off the polka-dots until they find Figaro.

Food:

Pink, of course – strawberries, watermelon, pink M&Ms, pink gumballs. Even cotton candy would be perfect!

Favor:

New hair bow (or headband). A Tootles goodie bag (you know… “Oh Tootles”).

Fancy Nancy Party: Ooh La La! You are cordially invited to my Soiree!

An excuse to be Fancy.

Activities:

1. Make it fancy and formal. Have girls wear their fancy dresses.

2. Provide the works: boas, tiaras, feathers, etc. Let the girls fancify themselves by dressing up. Then have a photo shoot!

3. Make bracelets or necklaces.

4. Read Fancy Nancy: Tea Parties, fancy nancy:Tea partiesor your favorite Fancy Nancy book. 5. Have a tea party.

Food:

Fancy food, of course! Or just get those fancy looking toothpicks, stick ’em in finger food, and the girls will be saying, “Merci.” Tea is a must, or at least pink lemonade in tea cups. For dessert, what could be fancier (or more delicious) than Razzle Dazzle cupcakes from Scratch Cupcakery?!

Favor:

A Fancy Nancy book, a fancy hat, or a feather pen and fancy paper.

Ice Cream Party: Here’s the Scoop: You’re Invited to A Party!

Because who doesn’t love ice cream?

Activities:

1. Make your own apron (found at Hobby Lobby). The girls can decorate with fabric markers, glitter glue, or you can cut out ice cream scoop shapes from iron-on fabric in advance.

2. Decorate Soda Jerk hats. (Here‘s a tutorial on how to make them).

3. Enjoy a Sundae Bar.

Food:

A Sundae Bar with all the fixins! Sprinkles, candies, chocolates, syrups, berries and banana slices, and cherries, of course! A nostalgic cupcake in an ice cream cone sounds extra perfect for this party!

Favor:

Girls can take home their aprons and hats. Find glass soda jars and fill with some extra yummies.

ice cream birthday party
My friend Anna threw an awesomely delicious ice cream party for her daughter, Sylvie. Yum!!

Doc McStuffins: The Birthday Girl is in, and she’s fixin’ up for a party!

Perfect for the animal lovin’ lady.

Activities:

Have guests bring their favorite stuffed animal.

1. Girls decorate their own ‘Big Book of Boo-Boo’s.”

2. Set up an animal clinic: weigh the animal, check his heart (Does he have a “Caring heart?”), put a bandage on his boo-boo. Record all this information in the girls’ books.

3. Pin the Band-Aid on Lambie.

4. Guessing jars filled with cotton balls (jumbo marshmallows), Kisses (you know, like mommy gives), and Vitamins (gummy bears).

Food:

Apple slices or applesauce (because they keep the doctor away), Wafer Band-Aids (wafer cookies), Chilly noses (carrots or Cheetos puffs), strawberries for Hallie, and blue jello for Stuffy.

Favor:

Girls take home their Big Book of Boo-Boos and a Kit of goodies.

Doc McStuffins Party
My friend Julie was bursting at her creative seams hosting a Doc party for her adorable daughter, Amani.

Make it vintage, make it pink, a great theme to put your own spin on.

Activities:

I’m picturing a picnic in Union Park where your guests can ride the Heritage Carousel!

1. Make pinwheels – I found a tutorial online.

2. Paint with sidewalk chalk (see how to make your own).

3. Pony races (Think Mary Poppins here!). Have girls ride a broom or a PVC pipe and race around an obstacle course.

4. Play carnival games. Knock down the bottles, toss the ball in the bucket, pick a duck out of the pond, etc.

Food:

Glass soda jars and soda straws, lemonade, hot dogs, popcorn, peppermint sticks, licorice, lollipops, and even cotton candy. The Oh Happy Day cupcake from Scratch would be darling for this party. I also picture the carousel sundae from Hickory Park (mint ice cream with animal crackers… yum!).

Favor:

Find those vintage red and white popcorn boxes and fill with caramel corn, cracker jacks, and a big rainbow lollipop.
