Fall is officially here – again.
Deep Breath.
Fall.
Hmmm, I get it. People are sick of the hot weather, ready for hoodies, jeans, and Pumpkin Spice Lattes. I do get it, but not really.
C’mon people, how can you be sick of the hot weather? Don’t you know what the cooler weather leads to? Cold. That’s what.
You see, those hoodies are fooling you! They are really just the gateway to COATS!
Let’s move on… the Pumpkin Spice phenomenon. PSLs at Starbucks are pretty tasty, but does anyone else think we have gone a little bit too far with the cinnamon, cloves, ginger, and nutmeg. Heck, I even saw Pumpkin Spice Oreos somewhere. What is this world coming to???
I am, by nature, a cold person. SO, when we get that first hint of chill I am already crying, envisioning my frigid appendages that never thaw out until spring.
For me, there is not much in between. It’s either gloriously hot, or excruciatingly cold. And once you cross the threshold of cold, it’s a long, difficult journey back.
I do, however, love the trees. They are pretty nice, I guess. The colors in Iowa are simply breath-taking.
I kinda like wearing my leggings and Ugg boots. They are pretty comfy for schlepping around in, writing, and wrapping up in multiple fuzzy blankets sipping hot cocoa.
But I think fall’s biggest saving grace is Halloween. It is my favoritest favorite holiday ever, and it happens to be in the fall. I guess there are a few things I might like about fall after all.
That being said, I am really hoping that fall will be unseasonably warm and somehow just fade into spring, skipping over the season-that-must-not-be-named.
This will be my first fall in Iowa but I must admit that I love fall the most. I think it’s because I’m prone to sweat quite easily so it’s a much-needed relief from the heat. I also don’t know what winter is like up north cause I’ve never lived past Georgia so I’m not looking forward to that.
Welcome, Melissa! You will love all of the fall colors here, they truly are amazing. I don’t think I will comment on winter, though. They were the hardest part about coming back after eight winters in Texas. 😉
