I think women are always looking for little getaways or ways to connect with their girlfriends! I love a good shopping trip or beach vacation, BUT I also love to BE ACTIVE with friends (and to get involved in local events. There is something about getting your “blood pumping” together that is particularly bonding!
So, here’s to my latest girlfriend bonding adventure!
We were up bright and early to drive to Jefferson, Iowa, to start the race at 6:45 a.m.! Even though it was EARLY, there was a lot of energy at the starting line! You can do this race with six to eight people; we had eight, so each of us had around 10 miles to run (give or take a mile or two)! So, we dropped off our first runner and headed (by car) to the “exchange” zone! I think we were all surprised at how fast the race moves. We thought we would be waiting around more for our runners, but it moves fast! OR maybe we were just really FAST?!
Some 11(ish) hours later we completed the race! They reserve the last 200 meters for a team finish, so we all crossed the finish line together! WAAAAAHOOO! They also put on an after party with drinks, M2M apparel, and lots of other food and clothing vendors — a fun way to end a great day! All eight of us unanimously commented on the organization of the race, the friendly staff, and the gorgeous views (a lot of the race is in Iowa trails)! It was really well done!
I have to end with a shout out to the girls who did the race with me! Deb, Melissa, Meagan, Jill, Katelyn, Julie, and Izzi — you guys are the best! Loved doing this race with you and getting to know each of you a better! Such a fun and TOUGH crew! ALL MY LOVE!
