HALO Safe Sleep Initiative & Product Review

3

September is Baby Safety Month so I thought it was appropriate to share one of my favorite baby products – HALO SleepSacks!

A Must-Have Baby Item

An expecting mama is given oh so many pieces of advice early on in her pregnancy. While figuring out everything she could possibly want and need on her registry, it doesn’t take long to learn about swaddling and HALO SleepSacks & wearable blankets.

That was one item I heard as a ‘must-have’ on several occasions so I definitely had it on my shopping list. But, before that list kicked into action, baby arrived…

finally snuggling at home after life in the NICU!

Having a baby 10 weeks early brings a whole host of complications and overwhelming introductions to medical terminology and concepts you never dreamed of. Yet, the ‘life’ you live in the NICU is one you never forget.

I remember my almost 3 lb baby girl trembling frequently despite the Zaky hand surrounding her, so I distinctly remember the day our remarkable nurse at Blank Children’s Hospital NICU announced we could start using a HALO SleepSack.

That was a milestone for sweet baby C. It meant she got to move from her isolette to an open crib. It was a super scary day moving into a new bed (if you’re a mom of a preemie, you’re reflecting right now), yet I was comforted by the soft and fuzzy winged blanket that would become part of her daily routine for quite some time.

Keeping our newborn babies sleeping safely is something ALL new mommies can embrace and that’s the amazing thing about HALO SleepSack wearable blankets. They keep a newborn sleeping soundly or comfort a restless 5-month old teething babe. They are easy to use, withstand hundreds of washings, and can grow with baby. In different sizes, colors, textures and prints, they are a staple in many households.

About the HALO® Safer Way to Sleep Initiative:

HALO Innovation’s SleepSack® Swaddle has become the standard for hospital nurseries and parents alike. In fact, 1,000 hospital nurseries use the HALO SleepSack Swaddle instead of blankets through the HALO Safer Way to Sleep Initiative. That is 1.5 million births getting first-hand, in-hospital experience with the HALO SleepSack Swaddle and safe sleep practices!

Leading health organizations agree that modeling proper baby care in the hospital is the single biggest influence on how parents care for their baby at home. HALO Innovations also offers free Safe Sleep Practices kits to childbirth educators to help further the cause of SIDS prevention.

The HALO SleepSack Swaddle has been deemed “hip healthy” by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute. There is a great reference/video about the benefit of using HALO you can view here.

  1. You are correct, your post definitely made me reflect on the day our baby moved out of an isolette! Our preemie was our second child, so we were pretty familiar with the sleep sack by then. Our daughter always wore them, and so it was natural for our son to as well. We also love the big kids one (with hole cut out for feet), plus it is super cute to watch them walk while wearing it! My kids’s rooms are hot in the summer, and cold in the winter. When the winter chill starts to creep into their rooms, it is almost impossible to keep a blanket on a little one in a crib. Last winter, our son wouldn’t sleep without his sleep sack on, and I am looking forward to using our big kid sleep sack for him this winter.
