Provider Spotlight: Dr. Mely Mathew
Our New Moms Event was held a few weeks ago and our mamas were thrilled to have the chance to meet and learn from Dr. Mely Mathew, Pediatrician at UnityPoint Pediatrics – Lakeview. It was an honor to get the chance to connect with her in person and learn more about her.
Dr. Mathew completed her medical education at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre in Cochin, India. She completed her residency at John H. Stroger Hospital in Chicago, IL. She is accredited by the American Board of Pediatrics. Her interests include preventative care, developmental pediatrics, obesity managements, adolescent medicine, newborn care, skin, rashes and asthma. When she isn’t at the clinic, you will be able to find her enjoying social media, traveling, cooking, home decor and spending time with her family.
Get to Know Dr. Mathew:
Tell us a bit about your Family: “I have a 2-yr-old son and am expecting another little boy to join us in December.”
Your Biggest a-ha moment as a mom?: “When I first looked at my son’s beautiful face immediately after he was born, time stood still and I realized my life was changed forever!”
Your Favorite part about being a mom?: “When you are greeted by hugs and kisses from your children, you know you would die for them any day!”
Why did you decide to become a pediatrician?: “Newborns and small children are the most vulnerable group in any population – to be able to help them is literally giving back to the world in a big way!”
